Jamaica’s 2026 carnival season came to a high-energy close on April 12, as thousands of revellers took to the streets of Kingston, Jamaica’s capital city, for the annual Carnival Road March, the grand finale parade that sees the island’s biggest carnival bands move through the capital in a vibrant display of music, costume and celebration.
At the centre of the experience were KFC and Pizza Hut, exclusive quick service restaurant partners for two of Jamaica’s leading bands, GenXs Carnival and Xodus Carnival, moving with the rhythm of the road from start to finish.
While Jamaica is globally known for reggae and dancehall, carnival has grown into one of the island’s most anticipated cultural seasons. The season introduces the vibrant energy of Eastern Caribbean traditions into the mix, with Soca music blending seamlessly with Jamaica’s own dancehall sound and culture. Each year, Carnival in Jamaica attracts thousands of locals and overseas visitors, building momentum through a series of pulsating events before culminating in final Road March.
KFC and Pizza Hut returned for another year of sponsorship, with a strong, vibrant and energetic presence across the season, creating bold, high-energy touchpoints that allowed revellers to fully engage with the brands while immersed in the experience. From major parties – or “fetes,” to the final Road March itself, patrons connected with KFC and Pizza Hut teams on the ground, enjoyed live music and performances, and kept fuelled with KFC’s signature finger lickin’ chicken and Pizza Hut’s fan favourite pizzas throughout the festivities. The brands also expanded access to the celebration through carnival costume package and event ticket giveaways, giving more fans and customers the chance to take part in the carnival experience.
One of the standout moments of the season came with the return of Soca icon and 2026 Trinidad Carnival Road March Champion, Machel Montano. His appearance, facilitated by KFC, saw him join the GenXs carnival band on the road, performing from the KFC music truck and elevating the energy across the route as revellers moved through the nation’s capital.
The impact of the carnival season extends beyond the celebrations, playing a significant role in Jamaica’s economy. In 2025, direct national expenditure in Jamaica, tied to carnival-related activities was estimated at approximately JMD$7.7 billion, an investment which supported a wide network of hotels, vendors, creatives, and small, medium, and even large business enterprises. KFC and Pizza Hut contributed to that ecosystem by creating employment opportunities and working with local organizers, sponsors, and partners to deliver executions and activations throughout the season.
Over the years, KFC and Pizza Hut have found meaningful ways to connect with Jamaicans across different spaces, from education, sports, entertainment, and the carnival season is no different. Carnival has firmly cemented itself in the cultural fabric of Jamaica, bringing together music, movement, and community at scale,” said Andrei Roper, Marketing Manager for KFC and Pizza Hut in Jamaica.
He added, “For us, a lot of effort goes into ensuring that how we show up adds to that experience in a way that feels authentic to the Carnival season. At the same time, we recognize the broader role the season plays in supporting local businesses, vendors and creatives, and we are proud to contribute to that ecosystem through our partnerships and on-the-ground activations. It’s about being part of something bigger and continuing to build on that impact each year.”
Coming off an exciting and memorable 2026 carnival season, both KFC and Pizza Hut continue to deepen their connection to the communities they serve, using platforms like carnival to celebrate culture, create shared experiences and bring people together through food, music, and energy.
